SOPA / PIPA
This website is for a small company in Nashville TN. I am a professional active member of the music industry and in media production. My stance on SOPA and PIPA have to be thought out. Copyright law is important and I see value in protecting a persons creative rights and lively hood. However, SOPA and PIPA isn’t really about that. As a small business owner, SOPA and PIPA will hurt my private business and force those looking to use my services to only be able to find larger and more expensive companies.
How you may ask? Wikipedia explained it pretty well when they went “dark” for 24 hours, in protest of SOPA; “Small sites will not have the sufficient resources to mount a legal challenge. Without opposition, large media companies may seek to cut off funding sources for small competing foreign sites, even if big media are wrong. Foreign sites will be blacklisted, which means they won’t show up in major search engines.”
